The 10 Years Old is the first distillery founded by Masataka Taketsuru on his own, in 1934, after his trip to Scotland. It is the new release of a discontinued single malt from the Nikka distillery.
An ode to yellow and orange fruit complexity, without forgetting a refreshing touch and a pinch of salty minerality. The fruity core is of peaches, apricots, yellow ripe apples, and sweet lemon zests. A splash of custard cream and a warm sweetness then takes over, with vanilla icing and butter-rich biscuits. In the end, aromatic essential oils of lime, orange and grapefruit bridge to a salty and mineral finish.
92Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.</p
