The distillery has been working with farming partners on Islay since 2004, raising crops of locally grown barley, and created this 18 years old from a combo of Islay, organic, and Scottish-grown barley.
It strikes the nose with a feast of tropical fruit, peaches, cantaloupes, apricots and citrus, followed by caramel vanilla custard. The mouthfeel is luxurious and viscous, with honey, butterscotch, and fruits coating the palate, followed by cereal notes of porridge, barley sugar, and maple syrup. Intense tropical fruit and subtle toasted oak with a hint of leather follow, with honeycomb smoothing the flavor.
95Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.</p
