Kavalan, Taiwan’s leading distiller, is launching two of its oldest whiskies to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of its Solist Series of single-cask expressions. This collectible duo was initially released in Taiwan in July 2024, and is now being introduced to select U.S. markets.
The Kavalan team selected whisky distilled in 2009, which was aged in both bourbon barrels and oloroso casks. The alcohol content ranges from 50% to 59.9%. While each bottle represents a single cask release, more than two single casks were used for the 15th Anniversary bottlings, though the exact number has not been disclosed.
These whiskies are extremely limited in availability. The Oloroso Sherry Cask finish was bottled at 56.3% ABV (112.6 proof), while the Bourbon Cask finish was bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof). Both whiskies retail for $1,000 each.
