TASTING NOTES - COMPASS BOX BRULEE ROYALE

Nose

Very coherent with the name, caramel and creme brulee are truly spreading out of the glass. Only at moments the sensation of the custard is burnt, and still lightly. The fruity component is based on poached pears and peaches. Milk-like, in a pannacotta style. What surprises is the sweetness, a little over. Alochol is well integrated.

Palate

Thick, velvety, again quite sweet. It is slightly warmer and with the fruity component slightly more evident: red apples, tarte tatin, honeyed warm fruit salad.

Finish

Medium duration, again on the French patisserie which is the narrative aspect of this blended scotch, however with a truly important sweetness.

Compass Box Brulee Royale is a very coherent with the name release. It is truly interesting to explore how the expert blenders recreated a whisky resembling several different patisserie products as well as other cakes or sweet preparations from other countries. However, the final result is probably little too sweet to push a second quick sip.
