Mars The Y.A. #04 is a 2025 release combining malts from Komagatake and Tsunuki, aged in the Yakushima cellar.
The nose delivers herbal scents, gentle peat, baked apples, peaches, and stone fruits, all well integrated. On the palate, the peat stays restrained, letting velvety stone fruits shine, joined by vanilla and spices; smoke gently returns later. The finish brings back soft peat with a light cigar-like note over yellow fruit compote. A successful evolution of the series, balancing fruitiness and subtle smoke, and mixing two very lively and well integrated souls.
95Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
