Produced at the Bernheim Distillery of Heaven Hill, it commemorates Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square, named in 1825 after David Rittenhouse, astronomer and a scientist, first director of US mint. This expression uses a mash composed of 51% rye, 37% corn and 12% malted barley. It is then aged for approx. 4 years.
The herbal balsamic components are mellow and well-integrated, sweetened by an orange character. Toffee and sweet spices (cinnamon and nutmeg) are also given off, completing a true gemstone of a nose. The rich palate also adds oak and vanilla pod. Intense, yet very well-balanced experience, with all the specific character of a rye whisky.
93Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
