This is the longest aging from Glengyle distillery. Unlike the 2020 version aged in ex-bourbon casks, this 2021 version underwent maturation in two types of barrels, ex-bourbon, and ex-sherry.
Rich notes of sherry (black cherry, figs, raisins), along with exotic ripe fruit, with walnut and seasoned wood. A touch of ganache, leather, and a slight vegetal scent. The entry to the palate is spicy, then it becomes juicier, with ripe fruit, candied orange, and vanilla. Dark chocolate persists. The finish is long, intense, oriented on rich sherried notes; vanilla, wood spices, and butterscotch stand out.
92Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
This list will be published in detail in Winter 2021 issue of CigarsLover Magazine.
