Belonging to the Arcadian Farm Origin series, it uses Hunter barley, a variety from 1959 which vanished since the 1970s and was only preserved in the seed bank of the Irish Dpt of Agriculture.
It features a truly unique nose, with marine notes then dispersed into robust aromas of chalk, damp earth, roots, with black olives and seawater. Fruit is limited to fondant lemon candy, of intense sweetness. The palate provides ginger and acidic sensations, with green spices, limiting the fruit to white pear. There are also intense mineral notes. It can be considered as one of the most unique products on the market.
92Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
