Equiano is the result of the collaboration between Foursquare Distillery in Barbados and Gray's Distillery in Mauritius, blending African and Caribbean rums in old bourbon, cognac and sherry casks for 11 years.
The nose is a deep well of ripe tropical fruit, allspice, macadamia nuts, polished leather, bonfire, and wet sand. The palate is rich and creamy: dark chocolate and red fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg over tropical fruit, red licorice and noble wood. The finish is long, bittersweet with plenty of elegant wood tannins and sherry flavors.
96Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
