This rum is the sixth iteration of the maison’s grand cuvée of three high ester vintages.
Proudly funky to the nose with loads of tropical fruit, banana, muscovado sugar, a balsamic vein, chocolate mint, and a mineral whiff, brine, gasoline, and varnish, rubber. The palate is oily, quite intense, with dark chocolate and smoky flavors, then tropical fruit, coconut and mango, finally candied ginger and herbal tea, almost tart. The finish is long, fresh, peppermint, various spices, honeysuckle, roasted marshmallow, and candied citrus.
91Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
