An impressive 17yo celebrates the 2004 harvest of the world-famous Martinican distillery.
The nose is extremely refined: loads of spices, roasted notes, and macerated fruit like plum, stone fruit, and peaches. The palate is sumptuously tannic with a noble woodiness that envelops the whole mouth, some tropical fruit smooths the edges, but overall is dominated by a marvelous tangy elegance of walnut, coffee, and cocoa beans. The finish is endless with hints of fruit, leather, spices, roasted nuts, coffee, cocoa beans, and above all the noblest wood.
95Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
