Made from pure, fresh cane juice from the village of Malalane in South Africa, this rum endures a long fermentation of 24 days thanks to the addition of dunder (vinasse).
The nose is funky with plenty of varnish and fresh sugarcane, but also earthy, licorice and truffle, a metallic note, then spirited red fruits. The palate is viscous and powerful, sticky vesou with plenty of candied and salty flavors, ginger and lemon zest, smoky notes, sweet charcoal and salmiak licorice. Finish is long with brine, resin, and a shimmering bittersweet vesou.
94Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
