This year Saint James presented a brand new 18yo in a limited edition of 2000 bottles that, hopefully, will be added to the core range of the “distillery age counts” 7, 9, 12, and 15 years old.
On the nose, it develops woody and roasted notes, then macerated fruit, dried plum, and raisin. On the palate, it is smooth and silky with elegant woody flavors, sweet spices, and candied citrus. The finish is medium-long with echoes of jam fruit, roasted nuts, and spices. A masterful showcase for a staple addition to the distillery’s core range.
90Among the rums tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
