Kentucky Peerless, based in Louisville, is launching a new whiskey that combines rye whiskey with toasted casks. This release features 4 to 8-year-old rye aged in No. 3 char barrels and finished for a month in a new medium-toast American oak barrel, both crafted by Kelvin Cooperage.
Double-oaked whiskeys are gaining popularity, however, few distilleries have done it as well as Kentucky Peerless, which began this trend in 2021 with Double Oak, created after a leaky barrel required a transfer. The new release draws inspiration from their Toasted Bourbon. This product is currently exclusive to Kentucky, but it will be available nationwide in the near future. The suggested retail price is $110.
