With this bottling Benromach presents its first batch of new barrel strength whiskeys. Distilled in 2009 and aged for 10 years in a combination of bourbon barrels and first pass sherry, it is neither cold filtered nor colored with caramel.
alcohol initially present, but with a lot of sherry to balance it. Notes of crunchy red apples and cherry jam, again cooked pears, caramelized figs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange zest, toasted wood. Rich and complex.
warm and powerful, almost peaty, with smoky notes of charcoal and roasted coffee, bitter cocoa, black pepper, more mulled wine sherry sensations, cooked apples and plums, black cherries, and a certain tannic astringency.
good persistence with hints of salted caramel, salt flower chocolate, bonfire on the beach, that is, a salinity that enhances the intensity of the burn. The sherry is still perceived with a vinous and earthy note that lasts for a long time.
This new Benromach is truly a powerful and distinctive whiskey offering a rich sherried and roasted variation of typical Speyside elegance. It will satisfy the most demanding palates such as those looking for strong emotions.
