The Glendronach 15 Years Old Revival is a 15 years aged expression of the well-known Scottish brand. For some time, this bottling was not commercialized, but in recent years it has reappeared on the shelves, as a product destined for a continuous production. It ages in ex-Sherry barrels, which previously contained Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso. The label of the bottle is green, and differs from the other vintages in the portfolio (red for the 12 year version, blue for the 18 year and gold for the 21).
Sherry notes are immediately perceptible, with red fruit and exotic ripe fruit. Then spices. There are also raisins and a touch of dark chocolate present. After a few moments in the glass, the bouquet expands, with notes of walnut and balsamic, almost mentholated nuances.
On the palate, the red fruit is confirmed, as well as dark chocolate, now much more pronounced. The same goes for the spices, which recall white pepper. There is also a hint of orange peel.
Medium-long. Dark chocolate, orange peel and spices.
Overall, the Glendronach 15 Years Old Revival is an intense Scotch whisky, with a well structured flavor profile. Even if it lacks the level of complexity that can be found in the 18 and 21 years old versions, it is a satisfying whisky with an interesting finish.
