Hatozaki Blended Whisky is a blend of different grains from Kaikyo Distillery, released for the first time in 2019.
Light, fresh, however with a certain character: the fruity aspect is definitely quite unripe, taken over by a light flowery aspect in addition to yeasts and candied fruit. Distant, yet present a minor earthy, special spicy note, reminding of incense, which may be attributed to Mizunara oak.
Missing intensity when compared to the nose; the 40% ABV is for sure simple to drink, yet it is missing a kick which would have helped. The result is more oriented to Highball than to a neat drink. Unripe fruit, some acidic aspects and a very mild flowery violet note. The earthy incense note is not anywhere present.
Very, very short.
Hatozaki Blended Whisky is in our opinion more a Highball whisky than one intended to be sipped neat. The nose has some interesting aspects, while the very mild mouth profile is not as per expectations.
