Mars The Y.A. #02 is the 2023 blended malt second release from the brand. Made as release n.1 from malt distilled at the Mars Shinshu Distillery and the Mars Tsunuki Distillery, this whiskey has matured in the Yakushima Aging Cellar, which was newly established in June 2016 on the island of Yakushima of subtropical climate.
Warm fruity notes of bloody oranges and peaches are immediately boasting off, intense and balanced, very pleasant. The texture is neat and crisp, classy.
Beautiful sip, elegant; again on fruit, ripe pink grapefruit, peaches with a tangy minerality giving depth and complexity.
Medium length, neat, classy and refined.
Mars The Y.A. #02 is again a very nice release from this new brand. The subtropical climate has provided this blended malts hints quite different from the first release; less tropical fruit for less creamy texture, giving birth to a more elegant, classy, neat profile, centered on pink grapefruit and peaches, with a Highland style minerality. A very nice second effort by Mars.
