Wilson & Morgan Linkwood 2011 Quercus Alba is a release of the brand belonging to the Rossi family that continues the company's tradition of experimenting with finishes using virgin oak barrels. The outturn is 1558 bottles in total. The price is absolutely attractive.
initially just closed, it gradually opens with notes of sweet fruit (peach, ripe banana, fragrant apricot), to which is added an important vanilla side. At times it would seem to glimpse a red quality of fruit, raisins and ripe peach, almost blood orange.
at the beginning there is a hint of blood orange with a savory and metallic hint, which then evolves into slight acidity, to balance the sweetness of vanilla and fruit. Simple, but straightforward and well done. The consistency is of good creaminess.
medium duration, still orange (now more Navel) and a splash of sweet woody spices.
Wilson & Morgan Linkwood 2011 Quercus Alba is overall an easy-to-read yet well-made product. The finish in virgin oak barrels does not cover too heavily the spirit, leaving the possibility to fully understand the fruity nature and the slight acidity that balances the sweetness. It's really easy to drink a whole bottle without realizing it. Rating: 86
