Scarlet Shade 14-year rye whiskey is a release curated by Diageo’s Orphan Barrel Whiskey, a company founded in 2014 that debuted with the “Old Blowhard.”
This rye whiskey, curated by master blender Samantha Johnson, is a blend of products distilled in Indiana and transferred to Kentucky, where they were left to age for 14 years. The final product is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV).
The label is significant and accurate, representing a red cardinal (a bird of the sparrow family), the state bird of Indiana and Kentucky, a peony (the state flower of Indiana), and a skull, which would call for death.
It is already shipping to the market, with a suggested retail price of $149.99.
