Westland Distillery Releases Colere Edition 1

Westland Distillery has announced the release of their Colere Edition 1. Westland’s vision for this release was to find new, unused barley varietals that haven’t been considered before. A lot of whiskey industry experts believe that the barley does not impact the overall flavor. Westland is trying to use different barley’s to prove otherwise. In the past 10 years, Westland has distilled over 20 different varieties of barley (statistically more than over hundreds of years in Scotland) and has committed nearly 40% of its annual production to these unique barleys. Colere Edition 1 is an American Single Malt Whiskey that uses an uncommonly used Alba barley. That special malt is grown an hour north of Westland in Washington’s State Skagit Valley. New barley’s will also give the whiskey a new way to stay local with the agriculture industry. Westland can bring a product to the consumer through more sustainable agricultural methods, all while bringing new flavors to the industry. A very locally grown product that helps the local farming community.

Colere Edition 1 American Single Malt Whiskey is the second of the three annual limited editions in Westland Distillery’s Outpost Range series. 2,893 bottles total of the Colere Edition 1 will be distributed worldwide. The release is scheduled for May 2021. The 750-ml size bottle has an MSRP of $149.99.
