Located in the heart of Fort-de-France, Dillon has been developing its rum-making expertise since 1779. This rhum was distilled in a Creole column by the Depaz distillery, then it spent long years aging in small French oak casks (barriques). It is subsequently bottled at cask strength in a limited series of 1,750 worldwide.
It develops a triumph of noble wood spices, tropical fruit, and a visou vein marked by orange zest.
It’s powerful to the palate and almost spicy at first, but it then moves to toasted wood, leather, wax, jam of tropical fruits and candied citrus.
The finish is long, peppery with elegant notes of dark tobacco.
Overall, this Dillon Brut de Fût 2013 is a rum with an explosive ABV but certainly also very expressive. Aromatically it is very rich and harmonious, intense and perfectly balanced. It is simply a must, to be sipped on for special occasions or when looking for a special dram. This product won our 2022 Rum Awards.
