Whistlepig 10yo is the first product released from WhistlePig, which was initially born in 2007 as a farm in Vermont (USA). In the same year it began to buy Canadian rye whiskey and mature it in its warehouses, until 2015, when the company started distilling using 2 hybrid pot stills. The WhistlePig 10 Years Old, is a rye whiskey created with a rare mashbill composed of 100% rye, aged for 10 years in new oak barrels before being aged for a few months in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 100proof. (50% ABV).
The herbaceous side is the core of the nose, with notes of mint, thyme and fresh herbs. This main trait is flanked by hints of wild honey and vanilla, with distant fruity quality notes of pineapple, grapefruit and orange.
Quite spicy and intense, dominated by a mix of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon, then yellow unripe fruit, vanilla and caramel with hints of toasted oak. Still balsamic.
Medium-long persistence, with notes of spicy oak, rye, ginger, lemon and pineapple with hints of vanilla and menthol.
Whistlepig 10yo is an exceptional rye whiskey, which delivers an intense aromatic experience, centered on a mellow rye with faceted spices and herbal, balsamic traits. Rye at its best.
