Macallan Ruby is a 2014 release from the Scotch distillery, belonging to the 1824 Series. It is today out of production, and bottles can only be found in auctions or collections.
Dense, rich, obscure sherried influences of traditional, high-quality casks. Stewed compote of black and red fruit, leather, wood spices, with a touch of balsamic resinous influence. Complex and sticky, old-styled.
Again intense sherry, rich in spices which are varying between wood and darker, slightly bitter ones (cloves, rhubarb). The fruit is slightly less, and there is no longer hints of the beautiful resinous quality.
Long, quite intense and deep.
Macallan Ruby is a powerful release, which is showing still signs of Macallan traditional sherried masterpieces, including a leather dimension and some signs of beautiful resinous / balsamic aromas. The nose is excellent, while the palate is still very good, yet less complex and multi-faceted. A dimension door, bringing the aficionado to a different time and style of the distillery, which can be found only in very highly priced bottlings.
