Kirin Fuji-Sanroku Signature Blend

Fuji-Sanroku is the whisky line of Kirin's Fuji Gotemba distillery, founded in 1972 in the foothills of Mount Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture; the name translates roughly as "the foot of Mount Fuji", and the label describes it as "a gift from Mt. Fuji". The Signature Blend is a blended Japanese whisky assembled from malt and grain whiskies made in-house at Fuji Gotemba, a distillery that produces both on the same site, and was put together by Kirin master blender Jota Tanaka. It arrived as the successor to the earlier Fuji-Sanroku Tarujuku 50.

TASTING NOTES - DEPAZ VSOP RÉSERVE SPÉCIALE

Nose

Notably fresh on the nose, with notes of vanilla and butterscotch. Hints of red apple follow, then an almost imperceptible touch of cereal.

Palate

Intense on the palate, with honeyed notes, vanilla, wood and a touch of wood spice.

Finish

Medium, with wood spice, wood and vanilla.

Overall, the Kirin Fuji-Sanroku Signature Blend is fairly harmonious and of good intensity, with an aromatic bouquet that is easy to appreciate. It lacks in complexity and depth.
