Ardbeg Heavy Vapors Committee Release is this year’s edition of the Ardbeg Day celebrations, which take place during the annual Islay Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle).

This edition, curated by Dr. Bill Lumsden, is a single malt whiskey obtained; however, without using the purifier, a part of the still that usually gives Ardbeg products a balance of fruit and smoke. The absence of this still component allows heavier vapors to rise during the distillation process and leave their imprint on the final product.

This particular bottling, released exclusively for members of the brand’s Committee, boasts a slightly higher alcohol content than the limited edition product of the same name (50.2% ABV versus 46%). It will retail for an MSRP of $158.
