Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura 29 Year is a limited release and part of the brand’s Grand Series, a collection of single malts characterized by an experimental cask finishing.
The base whiskey was aged for 29 years and then continued refinement for six months in Okinawa Awamori barrels, a Japanese rice distillate. This is the first Scottish single malt to be finished in these rare Japanese oak casks.
Yozakura can be translated as “cherry blossoms at night” and recalls Hanami, the cherry blossom period, much felt and celebrated in Japan from the end of March to the beginning of May.
The release will take place at the turn of this period, even if it will be available in limited quantities at selected retailers starting from the end of March. The retail price is $1,999.
