Mars Tsunuki Distillery “The First” Single Malt Release

New bottlings are coming from Mars distillery. “The First” is the long-awaited release from the Mars Tsunuki distillery. As the name implies, this is the first single malt whisky produced at their Tsunuki distillery, located on the island of Kyushu. Mars Tsunuki “The First” will be both distilled, and aged, at sea level. The single malt was matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels. Distilled in 2016-2017, it was then aged for around four years before bottling in 2020.

The First is bottled at 59% ABV (118 proof). The  750-ml size bottle has an MSRP of $219.99.

Mars brand will soon have to more bottlings:

• Komagatake Single Malt Limited Edition 2020, aged over 3 years in sherry and American white oak barrels, and bottled at 50% ABV. MSRP of $169.
• Iwai 45, named for Kiichiro Iwai.” Same blend as the classic blue label Iwai, but at 45% ABV. MSRP of $34.99.
