New Taketsuru Pure Malt Released

Nikka Whisky Distilling has released a reformulated version of Taketsuru Pure Malt. The series is named for Nikka’s founder, Masataka Taketsuru. The original version of Taketsuru Pure Malt was released in the summer of 2015. That release was a blended malt with no-age-statement. The blend features single malts from Nikka’s Yoichi, and the Miyagikyo distilleries. The new release still has both, but includes more single malt from Yoichi. The additional adds more smoke flavor to the blend. Like the original 2015 release, the new Taketsuru Pure Malt also includes whiskey aged in ex-sherry casks. Fitting this new blend also has a brand new label on the bottle.

“The refined Taketsuru Pure Malt is an exciting evolution of our founder’s namesake blend,” says Emiko Kaji, Nikka Whisky international business development manager. “We have refined the formula and design to represent both sides of Masataka’s personality, being a disciplined craftsman and a person of curiosity and open-mindedness. We hope this expression will be enjoyed by connoisseurs and storytellers seeking high quality whiskies with rich stories behind.”

The brand new Taketsuru Pure Malt has an MSRP of $79.99 for the 750-ml size bottle. Available November 2020.
