Redwood Empire Announces Cask Strengths 2023

Redwood Empire presented the second edition of the “cask strength” series, relating to the Emerald Giant, the Pipe Dream, and the Lost Monarch, three products already in the company’s portfolio but characterized by lower alcohol content.

The names chosen take up those with which trees have been named, which, due to their natural characteristics, are the most famous in the world (for height, growth, etc.). The whole story can be found on the official Redwood Empire website.

More specifically, the Cask Strength 2023 series is represented by:

• Emerald Giant – is a blend of several rye whiskeys obtained with a 94% rye, 5% malted barley, and 1% wheat mash bill. Each rye was aged between four and seven years in 53-gallon #3 char casks.
  It is bottled at 116.4 proof (58.2% ABV).
• Pipe Dream – is a blend of bourbon whiskies obtained from a mash bill of four cereals: 74% corn, 20% raw rye, 4.5% malt barley, and 1.5% wheat. Also, for this distillate, the aging was entrusted to 53-gallon char #3 casks for a period ranging from four to more than fourteen years.
  It is then bottled at 116.8 proof (58.4% ABV).
• Lost Monarch – is the “ryebon” proposal of the distillery, i.e., a blend of straight rye (94% rye, 5% malted barley, 1% wheat) and straight bourbon (74% corn, 20% rye, 4.5% malted barley, 1.5 %wheat). For this product, aging is guaranteed in 53-gallon char #3 casks for a period ranging from three to more than fourteen years.
  It is bottled at 117.2 proof (58.6% ABV).

Each reference has been aged in Californian fog, so the ABV is not as high as other similar products.

Beginning this month, Emerald Giant, Pipe Dream, and Lost Monarch Cask Strength are available nationwide at a suggested retail price of $70 each.
