Hellyers Road American Oak 18yo #2269.03 is a single cask, double distilled single malt produced in the Tasmanian distillery exclusively for Kirsch Import in Germany and The Nectar in Belgium.
Quite intense; there is a fragrant, fresh tangerine dimension, sweet lemon, pineapple. With time it turns into more reddish fruit, with rounded and balanced plums and wet sultanas. Salty fresh butter.
An explosion of taste: despite the high intensity it shows a remarkable roundness, with toffee, burnt sugar, sultanas, all this covered in sweet/dark spices. Some chocolate-covered almonds. Distant woody aromas as well.
Medium - long, with an important return of plums and sweet/dark spices. Dark, without being bitter at all.
Hellyers Road American Oak 18yo #2269.03 is a remarkable product, with a high, yet well integrated ABV which is pushing the intensity of tastes and aromas as well as the duration of the finish. Fruity aromas are complex and difficult to dissect, and sweetness is elegant and refined. There is a slightly dark dimension (dark cherries, plums, chocolate) without moving into bitterness at any time.
