Arran Remnant Renegade Signature Series N.1, released in autumn 2023, is the first release of a new series consisting of four parts. This edition is said to be hand selected by Distillery Manager Stewart Bowman and to contain "remnant" casks which did not make it to official previous bottling mainly for the limited quantity; these casks are said to be as old as 1997 up to 2017.
A sweet expression of sherry, reminding of toffee apple, with plenty of butterscotch and sweet spices. It is delicate, yet expressive, somehow classy. The orange is present and enjoyable, with some hints of orange honey.
Honey is the most prominent flavor at entrance, with hints of fresh Navel orange and again sweet spices (cinnamon, light ginger, cardamom, star anise). Balanced and refined.
Medium short duration, again on orange honey, sweet and balanced, very silky.
Arran Remnant Renegade Signature Series N.1 is a great experiment. A truly difficult exercise to put together remnant casks and obtain such a classy, silky, refined product, focused on orange honey yet with a great array of sweet spices and enough butterscotch. The spirit of Arran is again a true masterpiece.
