Benrinnes 23yo by Chorlton Whisky is a bottling from the renown independent bottler in cooperation with The Rare Malt from Hong Kong, distilled on 27th October 1997, aged in a single ex-bourbon hogshead until being bottled. It was released in only 232 bottles, at a cask strength of 56.6%. Indications are there that the distillery at that time was still using a 2.5 distillations method similar to the Mortlach’s one, differently from today’s 2 distillations one.
very compact, yet expressive and pleasant, with an evident waxy dimension, on top of which a pack of different, yet difficult to separate fruit is very evident. Even though the experience is less sweet than in other products, the spirit results very balanced among fresh notes and fatty, almost meaty body.
sweet but also rich thanks to the presence of meaty notes, with a great texture enveloping the palate.
