Berry Bros. & Rudd Glen Elgin 2007 Moscatel Finish is a 2025 release belonging to the Odyssey range, an annual collection of 20 carefully selected casks, re-racked for a second maturation of at least three years. Each bottle explores the possibilities of controlled aging, charting a unique journey through the influence of the wood.
There are some rich dates and warm brown sugar, the heritage of the classic worm tubes of the distillery, lifted up by a tangy, thick orange marmalade. Intense and fruity, thick, dense.
The Moscatel cask influence provides wet sultanas, caramelized nuts, and lightly spiced stone fruits dusted with nutmeg with a touch of of sweet cherries. It is very well played between the thickness of the nose and a certain freshness with rounded sweetness.
Medium-long, on dried fruit with a hint of semi-sweet spices (nutmeg), with some level of classy sweetness.
