The Botran Guatemalan Oak Rare Blend was created to celebrate the brand's 80th anniversary. To make this ron, the master blender used the dynamic maturation system, which means that the products is not kept in the same barrel for the whole maturation, but it is regularly ransferred from one cask to another. For this Gatemalan Oak, the ron is placed in bourbon cask, re-burnt bourbon cask, sherry cask, port cask, and finally Guatemalan oak cask specially made for Botran.
On the nose, scents of dark chocolate, honey, vanilla, and a mix of floral and vegetal notes. Hints of tamarind. After a few moments, a nice nuttiness is developed as well.
On the palate, sweet honeyed notes, with vanilla beans, dark chocolate, and a vegetal vein, with some balsamic nuances. Then fruit, mainly pineapple.
Medium-long finish. Cinnamon, honey, and some balsamic notes.
Overall, the Botran Guatemalan Oak Rare Blend is round, and boasts a harmonious flavor profile, which is rather ample and structured. The finish is a little less exciting compared to the nose and palate.
