Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2009

The Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2009 is an important product for the distillery, as all the barley used in the distillation come from the island itself, cultivated only a few meters away. We reviewed the 2009 version, that was released in 2015.

TASTING NOTES Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2009

Nose

slightly smoky, it starts with hints of grilled meat and continues on different spices (black pepper, cardamom and paprika). Also vanilla and yellow fruit, which recalls peach and plum, emerge.

Palate

slightly spicy (white pepper and cinnamon). After a few moments, the spices increase in intensity, along with a vegetal taste of straw and wild herbs.

Finish

of medium persistence. Black pepper, yellow fruits, vanilla, coffee and licorice are outlined.

Everything contributes to the success of the product: excellent balance, good intensity (especially on the palate) and a harmony that follows each tasting step.
