TASTING NOTES BRUICHLADDICH ISLAY BARLEY 2010

Nose

initially the alcohol component is particularly perceptible. After a few minutes there are hints of vanilla, followed by custard. It is then the turn of rich spices, including cardamom, cinnamon and a touch of black pepper. After more time passes, licorice appears as well.

Palate

the first impact is round. The intensity gradually becomes more pronounced. The spices gradually become richer and the black pepper is the protagonist, supported by vanilla and caramel burnt.

Finish

long persistence. Notes of vanilla, caramel and black pepper. A slight astringency of wood is also perceptible.

The "island" character of this Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2010, outside of the peated products, is interesting and evident. Best on the nose and in the finish, thanks to an excellent persistence.
