Doorly's 12 Year Old is a rum distilled in Barbados, at Foursquare. It is aged for 12 years and bottled with a slightly higher alcohol content (43%) than is usually the case for the other products of the brand. On the label, the iconic macaw is depicted, a particular species of bird that differs on each label that identifies the various Doorly's.
First of all, caramel and toffee are the undisputed protagonists. Then green tea and plant references emerge. Lastly, orange zest.
Wood spices and milk chocolate are supported by intense roasted notes of coffee beans. It turns out sweet and round.
Medium persistence. There is a very intense aroma of sugared almonds, then a subtle hint of almond, slightly bitter.
Overall, Doorly's 12 Year Old is a sweet rum and particularly simple to appreciate, thanks also to the low alcohol component and the particularly enveloping bouquet. A good rum from Barbados.
