Douglas Laing Scallywag Ice Wine Cask Finish is a 2025 limited release from the Independent Bottler featuring Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey matured in Rare Ice Wine casks sourced from the snowy vineyards of Eastern Europe, produced from grapes naturally frozen on the vine.
Rich in pleasant, velvety sweet spices, on a butterscotch core, which is also showing some nice herbal character. The second nose is more fruity, warm mixed fruit compote.
Rich butterscotch and deep caramel, candied ripe orange and a sweet array of nice spices, Xmas biscuits. Warm and aromatic.
Medium-long duration, on sweet spices with a slightly drier component.
Douglas Laing Scallywag Ice Wine Cask Finish is a well crafted product, interesting, especially thanks to the sophisticated sweet spices components. The versatility of the Speyside blended malts are here making also the core quite nice.
