The Glenfiddich Ipa Experiment is a bottle part of Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series, which right now is made of the IPA, the Project XX, Fire and Cane and Winter Storm. It is a single malt finished for three months in casks that previously held IPA beer. It is something unusual and fascinating.
Hints of malt are joined after a few moments by a spicy mix of white pepper, wood spices and cinnamon.
To the palate, it is harmonious and well balanced. Notes of caramel and malt are delivered, enriched by spices (once again white pepper and wood spices) together with a fruity touch, the latter almost non-perceptible.
Persistence is medium. It releases wood spices and cocoa beans, together with a hint of wood.
Overall, the Glenfiddich Ipa Experiment is an interesting Scotch whisky. It is not a meditation product and it doesn’t want to be that kind of product. Like the series name claims, this is a sort of experiment and the result is a good one. The flavor profile is very harmonious and balanced. Very easy to enjoy, it is around, smooth and uncommon Scotch whiskey.
