Kinahan’s 10yo

Kinahan's 10yo is an Irish single malt whisky. Daniel Kinahan opened a spirits company in Trinity Street, Dublin in 1779. In 1807, Charles Lennox, the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, was so impressed with this whiskey that he ordered all barrels at the Kinahan family cellars to be kept exclusively for his private use, marking each cask with “L.L.” This mark still adorns each and every bottle. Kinahan’s LL brand was relaunched in 2015, using sourced undisclosed whisky.

TASTING NOTES - KINAHAN'S 10YO

Nose

Fruit is split into two components, one more citric (mandarin, apricot, not too ripe peach), one of yellow and red apple. Overripe pineapple. Slight touch of butter and butter biscuit. Fresh and pleasant, yet intensely fruity.

Palate

After a spicy entrance the aromatic palette shows consistency with the nose; maybe the apple is just more evident and bold. The sweetness is of good workmanship, quality vanilla.

Finish

Medium length, pleasant and again fruity. Minor milk chocolaty hints.

Kinahan's 10yo is overall an outstanding Irish single malt whisky; the profile is very pleasantly fruity, refined, with an extra touch provided by the spices at the entrance of the palatal experience. Very good drinkability and a certain fresh elegance. Perhaps the ABV lacks a few degrees to make it more intense, but it gains in terms of delicacy.
