Laphroaig Quarter Cask

The Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a Scottish whiskey that falls into the category of NAS, or the No Age Statement , which means products for which aging is not declared, which is therefore not particularly important.

This version of Laphroaig is aged in smaller barrels than is usually the case and these barrels are called Quarter Cask. Using this type of barrel, the wood surface in contact with the distillate is much greater than in traditional barrels (about 5 times more capacious) and this means that the wood releases more aromas and in a shorter time to the distillate.

TASTING NOTES LAPHROAIG QUARTER CASK

Nose

Hints of peat in the foreground, followed by young wood. Then it is the turn of citrus fruits, where lemon and lime stand out, accompanying smoky aromas and spices of the wood.

Palate

Rich peaty and smoky notes are flanked by licorice, wood and iodine. The spices of the wood are confirmed present. Intense aromas of aromatic herbs are also perceptible.

The final

Medium long persistence. Develop notes of young wood, peat, spices and licorice.

Overall, the Laphroaig Quarter Cask has a good alcohol content. Intense, fresh and enjoyable, it is satisfying despite its youthfulness being perceptible. It is not a meditation whiskey, but it is rather simple to enjoy.
