Puni Arte 04 is the fourth release belonging to the Arte Collection. It is made from a 100% malted barley mash bill, distilled directly after a production cycle in which peated malt was used. It is then matured for 5.4 years in Merlot casks from a renowned South Tyrolean winery, Nals Margreid, from Nalles. The outturn has been of 4930 bottles.
Nice red and black fruit, with an acidic component: blackberries, currant. The wine casks have worked diligently, adding notes of chocolate, even licorice and a slight acidic touch. A minor mineral hint. Peat is gentle, yet earthy in nature. Balanced and pleasant, characteristic.
Again acidity is the second part of a fruity mouthfeel, again on red/black berries and dark chocolate. More peat and more minerality.
Medium duration, again rather balanced and pleasant, on berries and chocolate, with an earthy distant background.
Puni Arte 04 is a nicely crafted product, where the wine casks have contributed smoothly to a fruity spirit, and the acidic component is refreshing and not too intense. The smoky peat is capable of providing an interesting earthy touch, which is enriching the nose experience.
