Reservoir Bourbon is a product created only using 100% corn mash bill, using only Virginia-grown corn and aged in small barrels. It has been released for the first time in 2013.
Immediately from the very beginning this is an ode to corn, as the impressions filling the mind are of corn on cobs, with a characteristic vegetal sweetness and a mellow profile, almost reminding some fresh butter. Vanilla also comes along, with some mild oakiness. Rather sweet. A touch of orange peel for some bitter sides adding layers of complexity.
Glazed pecans, peanuts, even peanut butter, vanilla intensity, some oakiness yet not an astringent profile. Still well balanced and creamy at times.
Very interesting medium duration, on peanut brittle, with a creamy component.
Reservoir Bourbon is a corn-centered product, with the grain almost dominating the nose profile. The palate, on the opposite, is more nuanced, and takes the direction of nuts, with pecans and peanuts as most intense, keeping a creamy profile. Nice, mellow and enjoyable.
