Thompson Bros Ardnamurchan 2015 6yo is a release from the Thompson brothers, the young owners of one of the most important whisky bars in Scotland. The spirit has been distilled on 26 June in 2015, and the first-fill ex-bourbon barrel has given an outturn of 267 bottles when bottled in February 2022.
Very refined and mellow, especially for being 6yo only. The vanilla is quite rich and refined, the yellow apples are well interleaved with sweet lemon and the mild smokiness resembles the one of Orkney products, with some levels of waxiness as well as honey.
The intense salty sensation of the distillery is here well represented, together with a strong waxy sensation and a truly nice fruity dimension, again on apples, lemon and grapefruit. A ginger fresh hint. A perfect mouthfeel for being such high ABV.
Medium to long duration, more peated than the other phases, with some distant drier aspects.
Thompson Bros Ardnamurchan 2015 6yo is a very nice product, with an exceptional nose and a palate which can be considered very loyal to the distillery DNA.
