Tormore 28yo by Chorlton Whisky is a bottling from the renown independent bottler, distilled on the 16th November 1992, aged in refill bourbon hogshead until being bottled in July 2021. It was released in 253 bottles, at a cask strength of 42.4%.
Despite the long aging, nose is immediately subtle and floral. There is also a mineral character, which is very well interleaved with waxy evident notes. The level of complexity is quite remarkable, and the spirit communicates age via some difficult to distinguish dusty notes. The fruity notes are less sweet than in other products, mainly lychee and very mild lemon.
Rather different from the palate, less floral and quite mineral and salty.
Good duration despite the refined character, probably the best aspect of the product, with mixed nuts and a very enjoyable mint freshness. The waxy dimension is confirmed.
Tormore 28yo by Chorlton whisky is overall a very fresh and floral spirit which, despite the long aging, has received a very gentle and subtle touch from the wood of the hogshead. It is a spring-perfect product, whose best part is probably the long, refined, waxy and herbal finish, while the palate appears lightly close for this level of product.
