Wild Turkey Longbranch is a bourbon whisky whose mash is composed of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12 malted barley. It is then aged for 8 years in classical new white oak barrels and, before bottling, it is filtered using charcoal, the latter created out of American oak and mesquite. It is seems the rogins of the idea behind this new release have to be shared between the Master Distiller Eddie Russel and the actor Matthew McConaughey.
Fragrant and refreshing, with evident citric notes with a touch of ginger. At moments it is slightly more floral perfume-oriented. Alcohol is evident, yet not disturbing. Very intense vanilla scents. Some dry wood.
Mineral and spicy at entrance, with a touch of bitter herbs. Not too sweet. A little sweetness in the backgroung.
Again the mineral touch is helping salivation and provides a longer lasting experience, with bitterness, sweet vanilla and citrus notes.
The Wild Turkey Longbranch is an easy and straightforward whiskey. The flavor profile is easy to enjoy. It delivers some bitter herbal notes which could be better integrated with the mineral part.
