The Macallan M Collection is a tribute to the Six Pillars of the brand in terms of whisky making; they stand for natural color, mastery, small spirit stills, the estate, exceptional oak casks, and sherry seasoning. This is not the first time The Macallan releases a series to celebrate them. Back in 2005 the brand introduced to the market biennial releases called Six Pillars Collection, and each of the whisky was commercialized in a different crystal decanter designed by Lalique.
This year, The Macallan is celebrating the Six Pillars once again, with the 2022 M Collection of single malt whiskies. The first three expressions are the M, M Black, and M Copper. While the M and the M black are not new, the M Copper it is and pays tribute to the copper stills at the distillery which have been used since it was founded in 1824. As it happen also for the previous releases, also the 2022 ones will be bottled in Lalique crystal.
Kirsteen Campbell, master whisky maker at The Macallan, said: “The Macallan M Collection gives us the opportunity to clearly and emotively tell the story of The Macallan’s Six Pillars which reflect the heritage, craftsmanship and uncompromised excellence that has distinguished our single malt for almost 200 years.”
The M bottle is meant to celebrate Natural Color, the M black Mastery, and is a peated single malt aged in sherry seasoned oak casks, The M Copper Small Stills and is a single malt aged in sherry seasoned oak casks.
The Macallan M 2022 will retail at US$6,750 (£5,000), The Macallan M Black 2022 will retail at US$7,600 (£5,700) and The Macallan M Copper 2022 will retail at US$8,500 (£6,250).
