The Godet brand has a long history, dating back to 1588, when Bonaventure Godet, a Dutch merchant, started a salt and wine business in the port of La Rochelle. The first cognac was born in 1782. Today it is still family-owned and managed by the fifteenth generation.
For the making of the Godet XO Terre, eau-de-vie from all the all the six cognac regions (Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bons Bois, and Bois Ordires) are used.
Intense note of raisins, caramel and a hint of brown sugar are followed by cotton candy and a touch of cappuccino.
Brown sugar and a touch of ripe fruit. There is also a balsamic note of menthol.
Medium short persistency. Hints of wood and a light touch of spices. Aromas are very soave, almost imperceptible.
Overall, the Godet XO Terre stands out more on the nose than on the palate, where the flavor profile is less wide. However, this cognac it very easy to appreciate and well balanced.
