Luca Gargano is renowned Italian collector and connoisseur in the rum world. His products are always targeted toward maximum quality and complete productive transparency. The Monymusk is a Jamaica Pure Simple Rum pot still distilled in 2019 and aged for 9 years. It is bottled cask strength at 62% EMB, which means that it has a light level of esters of 275,5 gr/hlpa.
It develops scents of dark chocolate, spices, raisins, and citrus, along with a touch of citrus. It is direct and the aromas are well defined. Despite the very high ABV, after a few moments in the glass, the flavor profile gets better outlined.
There are rich notes of red fruit and tropical fruit, where dates stand out. An intense dark chocolate aroma completes the bouquet on the palate.
Very long finish, the seems to never end. There are cocoa, caramel, and wood spices.
Overall, the Habitation Velier Monymusk EMB 2010 is a bold rum, and it delivers an excellent finish, that lasts very, very long. The flavor profile is rich and intense, but it has to be appreciated carefully due to the high ABV.
